Frequently Asked Questions
1. What will I gain from attending the Professional Childbirth Educator Workshop?
You will gain a deeper understanding of the process of teaching childbirth education, as you develop tools that will enable you to present material to childbearing families in ways that will enrich their experience of labor, birth and parenting. Your experience in the workshop will, in many ways, mirror the learning experience of those who you teach. Lecture, small group work, physical exercises, experiential learning and role playing will be some of the modalities of learning. You will learn about your own personal teaching and learning styles. You will gain insight into current evidence-based practice in the care of the laboring woman. You will have fun! In addition, you will earn 16 Continuing Education Units from the Ohio Board of Nursing. You will complete the 16 CEU requirement to apply for certification or recertification through International Childbirth Education Association. The workshop will also provide you with study materials which will be helpful as you prepare for the certification exam.
